John Carter certainly is. And you can see that he’s a little shaky on his feet on this new world too. Images scopped from the digital edition of the New Yorker.

That was a good bonus to getting the digital article. I bought the magazine and it didn’t have those pictures. It had the caricature of Stanton instead.

This is really looking like Mars to me . The scene is different than the text, but ( for me ) more real. I never imagined much more than moss, sky and a bit of quartz. It was a truly minimal production in my head. For this scene anyways.- Jeff

The ground behind Tars Tarkas looks a lot like the pictures that we get from the Martian probes.

When I first read this I thought. Yea, I guess so – then it kicked in. They’re doing a lot of digital add ins and I hadn’t thought of them adding REAL Mars surface texture. That would be cool, and it seems that is what they’ve done.

Hey guys, here’s the footage from the New Yorker article with Andrew Stanton. My approach is somewhat crude but direct. And yes the text is backwards… http://gallery.me.com/jeffdnt#100977/Tars-20Tarkas&bgcolor=black

No problem about the text. I paused the action at each text and held a mirror up to it to read. Didn’t want to miss a thing.

Very excited about the movie and think that it’ll be great, but that clip makes me a bit worried about Taylor Kitsch’s acting chops.
