Excellent! Nicely rounds out the shortened version released yesterday. Glimpses of all the main characters, I think. Conveys that Barsoom is a warlike world of chaos with many factions among the many races. I didn’t expect Matai Shang to be in league with the Warhoons, but if it’s part of a plan to bring all the baddies together to make a more formidable foe, I’m all for it.
Now I can see that Woola does stick with John for the fight against the charging Warhoons. That scene alone will be worth the price of admission for me.
We’re flying above Helium, trudging across the desert, sailing down the Iss (or a canal), finding and unveiling mysteries, and getting into all kinds of fights! We’re on BARSOOM!

Definitely LOVE the new trailer and have been looking forward to this movie for quite some time now. However, I do hope that Disney’s marketing department will start hyping the history of the books & point out things such as this is from the creator of Tarzan and that the John Carter stories basically created this genre of movie. Long before Avatar, Star Wars, and even Conan.

Exactly what I was about to say. In many forums and blogs the comments are so typical: ‘Avatar copied, Phantom Menace copied, seen that, been there’. It is obvious that there is a great need to pitch this story as “the mother of all science fiction war sagas” and build the interest to how it all began. ERB built the world, races, civilizations and countries of Barsoom long before Cameron, Lucas, Spielberg or Scott were even born.
This says it clearly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Princess_of_Mars#Legacy

I love that I get to say this ” where’s Woola ?” There is a that shot of him on the ground, but I didn’t see him in the Warhoon battel.

that is because Jiohn Carter falls out of the sky onto the warhoons
woola has to run towards them

Woola is standing there next to John looking at the oncoming horde during that quick shot. The top of his head is in the bottom right of the frame.
During the fight, I imagine Woola is scurrying around faster than the eye can see biting the Warhoons’ ankles as a distraction technique (though he will probably do much more than that).

I’m not surprised I missed him. Of course I’ll go watch it a few times more 🙂
