ECOF stands for Edgar RIce Burroughs Chain of Friendship. It originated in the snail mail world as a network for ERB fans to communicate. Today it’s still around and busy, busy, busy. This summer the LA branch, the LA SubERBs will be hosting two conventions, the first in early march. This con will feature a screening of JOHN CARTER at Disney’s Burbank studios on Saturday March 3. The 2012 Annual ECOF March 2nd and 3rd, Tarzana, California Celebrating the Opening of the Disney/Pixar John Carter Film
The Los Angeles SubERBs together with Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., would like to invite you to our annual informal “ERB Chain of Friendship” gathering on Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd which will include a special advance showing of the Disney/Pixar John Carter movie.
John Carter is set to open in theaters on March 9th, 2012, but Burroughs fans who attend the ECOF will get a special advance screening one week earlier on Saturday evening, March 3rd at the Disney Studios theater on the Disney movie lot.
Disney has announced that John Carter is rated PG-13, so children under the age of 12 will not be admitted at this special showing.
The cutoff date to receive the special lower registration fee is Monday, February 6th, 2012. Early ECOF registration will be $75, and will go to $85 after Monday, February 6th. This fee will include bus transportation to Disney studios, the film at the Disney studios theater, and a registration packet with many wonderful and unique items. Those who do not want a registration packet will pay $20 to cover the cost of round-trip bus transportation to the Disney studio lot. NOTE: Disney security requires a form of identification for all attendees.

The locus of ECOF activities will be the same hotel used in the 1996 and 1999 Dum-Dum events, namely the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, close to Tarzana and the ERB, Inc. offices. The newly refurbished Warner Center Marriott hotel is set in the San Fernando valley, adjacent to Highway 101 (Ventura Freeway), approximately 40 minutes north of LAX, and approximately 25 minutes west of the Burbank airport. Special group rates are available for Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd, and for early arrivals on both Wednesday, February 29th and Thursday, March 1st. Our special group rate is $109 per night plus the city tax of 15.6%. Overnight self-parking is at a discounted rate of $9 per car. If you choose to stay elsewhere, the Marriott charges $6 to park for the day plus 10% tax. Limited free street parking is available adjacent to the hotel.
Thursday night early arrivals: tours will be offered of the ERB, Inc. offices in Tarzana.
Friday March 2nd: Huckster room opens at 9 am. Guided tours of ERB, Inc. will be available. Panels and opportunities to meet special guests

Saturday March 3rd: Huckster room, panels, auction; opportunities to meet special guests. An early dinner at a local restaurant of your choice The John Carter movie will be Saturday night.
Saturday night: 5:45 pm: all persons going to the movie will meet in the lobby of the Marriott;
buses will drive pre-registered guests to the Disney movie lot for a showing of John Carter to start at 7 pm. Buses will return guests to the Marriott after the movie is over.
NOTE: Disney security requires us to supply the names of everyone attending the event, and requires some form of identification to get onto the studio lot.
